"What little we know about Mitasov is that
he was born in the early fifties in the city of Kharkov in Ukraine.
He graduated as an economist from the university. For some years
he worked as a manager of a supermarket in Kharkov. When he
died in 1999 his flat in the centre of the city contained the
most stunning visual images all created in the latter half of
his life.

Every inch of his home including its small amount
of furniture was decorated with letters and signs.
His work is an example of lŽart brut and at the same time his
work can be seen as a record of the modern life in Ukraine.
What Mitasov has left us is an amazing and accurate visual record
of his time".
